Gentry Birds Project

Ruffling the lake  It’s moony midnight glaze  Waterbird’s dream
- Matsuo Basho

After having an amazing experience with our first successful project here on Kickstarter, I thought it would be only natural to continue our work with the tree inhabitants – birds. I started working on paintings of Gentry Birds, as I call them, and I want to turn it all into a beautiful series to be included in my upcoming Digital Book along with the trees.

Well, I need your help to gather all my sketches of birds and turn them into paintings. I have a good forest of trees as you can see at  onceuponapaper.etsy.com, but not much on the feather side.  I love birds and the minimal, mid century way I am inclined to express them, comes from my architectural hand and thinking, and certain currents, like Scandinavian, I was influenced by.  Hence this project right here…

The Digital Haiku Book, a PDF file, will be viewable on your computer or mobile device. The bird paintings of this project will be added to the Book already created on the first project. It is a beautiful illustration of old haiku masters.

The DIY Coloring Book contains my original pencil drawings combined into one large PDF file ready to print on your home printer and paint/color any way you choose. Over 40 coloring pages of trees and birds that could keep you busy for hours!

What you get as rewards when you pledge is original watercolor and gouache works. Plus of course, the Digital Haiku Book, the PDF Coloring Book, and the Zen Garden Tapestry. Three sizes are available for the paintings: small ~8×10, medium ~12×17 and large ~18x24inch. They will be produced based on the pledging tire level, the higher the sooner. For the original paintings you are allowed to suggest a color your painting should be based on. It will all be taken care with the survey sent at the end of project pledging time. If you want a tree instead of a bird, that’s fine also.

The Zen Garden Wall Tapestry is a set of 12 archival limited edition prints, 8.5x11inches, of choice pages from the Haiku Book. It is a high quality printed version of birds and trees with haiku on the side. You will receive the prints in mail ready to frame and install on your home or office wall. Frames not included. You can install as a 1×12, 2×6, 3×4, 4×3, 6×2, or any other random configuration you may see fit.
